ADT Skills Challenge Presented by Tyco to Feature First Female Team
Annika Sorenstam, one of the most successful female golfers in history, and Morgan Pressel, a current Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) standout, will form the first female team to compete in the ADT Skills Challenge presented by Tyco.
The event, marking its 20th year, will be held on November 7 at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida. It will be Sorenstam's first professional competition since the LPGA's 2008 season-ending ADT Championship. Sorenstam, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, and Paula Creamer have competed individually in past ADT Skills Challenges.
The other teams in this year’s competition, which features $800,000 in prize money, are defending champions Nick Price and Mark O’Meara, Nick Faldo and Rocco Mediate, and Jerry Kelly and Zach Johnson.
The event will be telecast nationally in the United States on the NBC network on Saturday, December 24 and Sunday, December 25.
"It's the caliber of talent, the unpredictable nature of the event, and the unprecedented access to the players' conversations and banter that has ensured the longevity of this spectacular competition," says John Kenning, president, ADT North America Commercial.
"One of ADT's missions is to give back to the communities where it does business, so this year in honor of the 20th anniversary of ADT Skills, ADT is contributing $20,000 each to two charities in Palm Beach County," says John Koch, president, ADT North America Residential/Small Business. "The YMCA of Boca Raton will use its funds to help reduce the rate of childhood drowning in Palm Beach County and the YWCA of Palm Beach has targeted its contribution toward children and youth programs."
The teams will compete against each other in six skills: long drive, mid-iron, bunker shot, chip shot, trouble shot and short iron. They will then square-off in a “reverse scramble.” Contrary to a traditional scramble format, the rules of the “reverse scramble” call for the opposing team to select which shot its rival twosome must play.

Hall of Fame Field
Three of the eight members of this year’s field in the ADT Skills Challenge Presented by Tyco are members of the World Golf Hall of Fame. Nick Faldo was inducted into the hall in 1998, and Annika Sorenstam and Nick Price were both 2003 inductees.
