Magnolia Regional Medical Center went through an extensive life-safety systems evaluative process when it replaced a 75-year-old hospital with a brand new facility. Administrators were looking to modernize Magnolia’s fire and security systems and incorporate today’s advanced technologies into its day-to-day operations.
SimplexGrinnell was selected to install an advanced Simplex fire alarm system, which is very well suited to healthcare applications. At the same time, SimplexGrinnell designed and installed an integrated healthcare communications system as well as security and communications systems that included IP video surveillance, access control, video intercom, wireless and overhead paging, and video WIFI telephoning.
From a safety and technology standpoint, the hospital is well ahead of the norm for a facility of its size. It is using the advanced technology systems to help serve and protect patients, staff and visitors. The ability to integrate nurse call with other systems has resulted in a comprehensive and powerful communications solution. The locator and communications systems have significantly enhanced responsiveness throughout the facility and helped increase patient satisfaction scores. Magnolia even promoted its solution at a gathering of the Arkansas Hospital Association, showing members how it has used technology to enhance safety and security and improve patient satisfaction.
